SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is an open standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between an identity provider (IdP) and a service provider (SP).

In plain terms, it allows your company’s login system (the IdP) to securely sign users into another platform (like Highway) without creating separate credentials.

This process is known as Single Sign-On (SSO).

Benefits

  • Security: Credentials and MFA stay within your company’s IdP. Highway never handles them.

  • Ease of use: Users log in with their existing work credentials.

  • Centralized management: Admins can enable or disable Highway access directly in the IdP.

  • Reduced friction: No separate MFA or password resets required.
