What is the Performance Guarantee?
The Performance Guarantee shows how well a load is protected using Highway’s Load Lock product suite.
It reflects whether key security steps have been completed before pickup, helping you quickly understand:
If a load is ready to pickup safely
If there are risks that need attention
If the load is protected by the Load Lock product suite
Why it matters
The Load Guarantee helps you:
Reduce fraud and theft risk
Ensure critical steps (like rate confirmation and carrier verification) are completed
Monitor load health in real time
Take action before pickup when something looks off
How it works
Each load is evaluated against a set of protection checks.
These checks include:
The Carrier passes the Highway recommended Theft Protection Classification
The rate confirmation for the load was delivered and accepted securely using the Secure Rate Confirmation Delivery product.
All of the highest risk Load Lock alerts triggered on the load have been resolved by removing the carrier. These include:
Recent Identity Alert
Overbooked Carrier
Out of Range
High Risk Area
Fraudulent Phone Number
Highway has detected a geofence break at the pickup facility from an ELD connected vehicle.
Based on these checks, each load is assigned a status.
Load Guarantee Statuses
You’ll see one of the following statuses on each load:
Protected
All requirements are met
Pickup has been detected
This load is fully protected
Ready
All pre-pickup requirements are met
Pickup has not happened yet
No action needed — load is in good shape
Flagged
There are unresolved issues (e.g., alerts or missing steps)
Still within the allowed time window before pickup
Action recommended before pickup
Not Protected
Requirements were not completed in time
The load is past the pickup window
Not considered protected by Performance Guarantee
Ineligible
Load is not eligible for the guarantee program due to length of haul or tracking ineligibility
Timing: The “grace period”
Before pickup, you have a window to resolve issues.
This window extends through the pickup time plus a grace period of 12 hours.
During this time:
Loads can move from Flagged → Ready → Protected
After this window:
Loads become Not Protected if requirements aren’t met
What can affect the guarantee?
A load’s status updates in real time based on:
Carrier changes
Rate confirmation activity
Load Lock alerts
Pickup detection
Carrier risk signals
